Sophia Contreras knocked home two goals Saturday and the Fountain
Valley girls Under-16 squad out of AYSO Region 5 posted a 4-1 victory
over East Huntington Beach.
Elana Poppoff and Elaine Negri each scored once, while Allison Kinney,
Rachael Gilpin, Ashlee Gaska, and Mary-Ann Khamis turned in strong
performances for Fountain Valley.
Also on Saturday, Negri scored her team's lone goal as Fountain Valley
and West Huntington Beach fought to a 1-1 tie.

BOYS UNDER-14 DIVISION
South Huntington Beach 3, Panthers 1
Derek Sahagun scored off a Jarred Call assist to give the Panthers a
1-0 lead, but South Huntington Beach scored three goals in the final
period to pull out the win.
Region 55 4, Region 5 2
Thai-Binh Nguyen and Kyle Chan both scored, and Giovanni Espinoza led
the way on defense for Region 5.
BOYS UNDER-11 DIVISION
The Wave won two games last weekend, defeating the Irvine Lasers, 5-0,
before beating Mission Viejo Soccer Club, 6-1. Nick Becker, Alex
Loeffelman, Mike Nevarez, Jon Birt, and Alex Gallardo each scored in the
Irvine win, and R.J. Hirzel scored twice, Birt, Loeffelman, Becker, and
Danny Shoop each scored once, and Max Volz had two assists against
Mission Viejo.
BOYS UNDER-10 DIVISION
Storm 4, Fireballs 2
Richie Unfried netted all for goals to lead the Storm to victory.
Thunderboltz 2, Golden Eagles 1
Chad Brown scored for the Golden Eagles.
BOYS UNDER-8 DIVISION
Golden Warriors 4, Comets 0
Adam Black scored a hat trick with three goals, Jacob Gillett added
another score, Ben Fischbein and Alex Pratt led the defense, and Gregory
Katz, Brandon Tran, Jason Mar, and Matthew Sudyka combined in the net for
the shutout for the Golden Warriors.

La Habra 1, HB Stars 0
La Habra scored the game's lone goal in the final period to hand the
HB Stars (2-1) their first loss of the season.
