DENOMINATION: Nondenominational, but affiliated with Calvary Chapel of

Costa Mesa

YEAR CHURCH ESTABLISHED: Calvary Chapel Huntington Beach began as a

home Bible study group in the late 1970s.

SERVICE TIMES: Sunday morning worship services are at 8 a.m., 9:45

a.m. and 11:30 a.m. On Wednesday evening there is a service at 7 p.m. On

the first Sunday of each month there is a Communion service at 6 p.m.

Communion is also offered following every Sunday morning service.

BIBLE STUDIES AND FELLOWSHIPS: A number of Bible studies and

fellowships meet throughout the week for every age group. A brochure with

details is available at the church. A group for college-age members,

called "Realm" meets on Monday night. Women's Bible studies meet on

Tuesday morning and evening, except during the summer. Child care is

provided for the morning study. A Bible study for junior high school

students meets on Wednesday night. A midweek Bible study, with child care

provided, meets on Wednesday evening. A Bible study for senior high

school students and another for men meets on Thursday night.

SENIOR PASTOR: Bill Welsh. Welsh came to Calvary Chapel Huntington

Beach in June 1997. He was involved at Calvary Chapel of Costa Mesa for a

number of years. From Costa Mesa he and his family moved to Palm Springs,

where he served at a church for 19 years. He was later a pastor at

Calvary Chapel in Melbourne, Australia for three years and was on staff

at Calvary Chapel, Albuquerque for three years. He returned to Southern

California a little more than two years ago to lead the ministry and

worship of Calvary Chapel Huntington Beach.

PASTORAL STAFF: Alyn Loyd, associate pastor; Andrew Russell, missions

pastor; Joy Welsh, women's ministry; Kris Langham, junior high school

pastor; Dan Ross, senior high pastor; Jeff Osborne, children's pastor;

Guillermo Dasilvada, Spanish ministry. Additional ministry leaders

oversee various other areas of outreach and service.

SIZE OF CONGREGATION: About 1200 attend on Sunday morning.

MAKE UP OF CONGREGATION: A full spectrum of ages is represented. There

are many young families and a growing number of teenage and college-age

young people. Members come from Huntington Beach, Westminster, Long

Beach, Seal Beach, Garden Grove and a number of other nearby communities.
