WESTWELL ON:
* STUDENT SAFETY:
Armed teachers.
* RAISING STUDENT TEST SCORES:
Increase school hours.
* FISCAL IMPROVEMENTS THE DISTRICT:
Increase teachers salaries.
* BIGGEST ISSUE FACING THE DISTRICT:
Money
* CITY COUNCIL DISTRICTS:
Strongly opposed.
* PROPOSITION 50:
Opposed. Nearly all bond measures deserve a no vote. Bond means:
Buy it now and make your children pay for it.
* DEVELOPMENT:
Keep government out of the redevelopment business altogether. This
is not the role of government. When developers discover all the
regulations, permits, inspections, conditional use restrictions and
such, and the time required to deal with it all, it is no wonder they
simply walk away.
* WATER QUALITY:
Comprehensive testing and examination of the wetlands for possible
sources of contaminants needs to be done.
* BIGGEST ISSUE FACING HUNTINGTON BEACH:
The budget. Increased revenue streams predicted by the hot shot
outside consultants are not working. This places the tax burden on
residents. Government must stop meddling in the redevelopment
business. Let business conduct business. Our leaders must work to get
government out of the way. Taxpayers can no longer afford the size of
our city government. Staff and services must be cut or taxes must be
raised yet again. Taxpayers currently pay nearly 50% of everything
they earn in cumulative taxes. And government cries, "It is not
enough." The size of our government must be corrected. I understand
the only way to reduce government, is by reducing it's revenue.
