run-scoring double to break a 2-2 tie in the bottom of the fifth.
The Vikings also took on Sunset League rival Edison in a
tournament game and rolled past the Chargers, 23-5.
Walling belted two home runs, Adam Rodriguez hit a three-run homer
and Jared Gray hit a two-run shot to lead Marina in its 22-hit
attack.

In the tournament's fifth-place game, Edison fell to Villa Park,
4-1. Duehring had an RBI for the Chargers and Nate Mitani doubled.
In consolation play at the Newport Elks Tournament, Ocean View was
a 4-1 winner of St. Bernard. Bear Wurts picked up two hits and two
RBI and sophomore Geoff Klein hit a game-tying RBI in the fifth
inning.
Jeff Roth pitched a complete game with eight strikeouts to improve
to 2-0.
The Seahawks lost to Magnolia, 8-5. Wurts and Derek Walsh each hit
his first home run of the year, and Wurts also had two other hits to
go along with two RBI.
Robert Purpura struck out four in three scoreless innings for
Ocean View.
n another consolation bracket game, Mater Dei came up with two
runs in its final at-bat to slip past Huntington Beach, 4-3.
Joel Kaluzny doubled and Jordan Hargrave had an RBI for the
Oilers.
In softball action, Edison reached the championship game of the
Cypress Tournament, where the Chargers were one-hit by El Dorado's
Alyssa Freight in a 2-0 loss.
It was the first setback of the season for Edison, which fell to
5-1.
The Chargers had blanked host Cypress, 5-0, in the semifinal
round. Monica Chavez and Vanessa Hardway had an RBI and Krystal
Ramirez threw a four-hitter in notching the win.
Also at the Cypress Tournament, Krystal Heinle thew a no-hitter as
Marina blanked Warren, 4-0, and Holly Jackson gave up just two hits,
but Huntington Beach fell to Troy, 3-2.
