Looking forward to a road trip, but living for today

Check marks continue to appear beside things on the list as I keep

pushing on through. Then I will head to L.A. for a day with my

grandson. So much to do. All important. All part of living the life

that is here. All essential to who we are.

As I continue moving through my list, moving through the day, I

think to myself how grateful I am for each day. I think how, while I

eagerly anticipate tomorrow and the lure of the road, today is a

special one as well. A very wise, yet anonymous, author said it well:

"Yesterday is a dream. Tomorrow is a vision. But today, well lived,

makes every yesterday a dream of happiness and every tomorrow a

vision of hope."

The wisdom of the ages advises us to embrace opportunities each

day, to experience that day and not waste it. I push ahead with my

list, trying to stay with "well lived."

As the day reaches its end, an impatient gremlin calls, "Are we

there yet?" My patient mother part soothes, "Soon ... soon," and even

in the devastated South, people are picking themselves up and living

each day with that vision of hope for tomorrow.
