Ocean View stepped out of league play Saturday to take on Servite, and the visiting Friars pulled out a 54-50 victory. Diego Delgado paced the Seahawks with a game-high 17 points.
In another league game, Ocean View defeated visiting Estancia, 54-38. Diego Delgado scored a game-high 19 points.
In Sunset League play:
Los Alamitos took over sole possession of first place with a 71-57 home win over Edison. Landry Fields scored a game-high 20 points as the Griffins avenged a Jan. 13 defeat at Edison.
Denny Reed hit a trio of three-point shots and led Edison with 17 points. Tim Golden scored 12 and T.J. Lipold 11.
Edison previously had crushed rival Fountain Valley, 73-53, on the Barons' home court. Lipold led the Chargers with 16 points and nine rebounds. Reed scored 15 points and Golden 11.
Huntington lost on the road, 75-50, to Fountain Valley. Jeff VanDoornum scored 15 points and Nick Becker 11 for the Oilers.
Huntington also was a 54-41 winner at home against Marina. Becker led the Oilers with 12 points. Troy Lewis scored 13 and Sean Starkey 11 for the Vikings.
Marina also dropped an 82-60 contest at Esperanza. Mike Kinoshita led the Vikings with 18 points and Bryce Overend scored 13.
In girls' basketball:
Marina suffered its first loss in eight Sunset League games when Esperanza defeated the visiting Vikings, 41-38. The Aztecs outscored Marina 18-4 in the second quarter to take a 28-15 halftime advantage. They then withstood a second-half comeback by the Vikings, who fell to 7-1 in the league and 20-4 overall.
For Marina, Rachel Maulit scored 16 points and had nine rebounds, and Allison Budzinski had nine points, five rebounds and four assists.
Huntington is tied for second place with Esperanza in the league standings following a 57-46 win at Fountain Valley. The Oilers jumped out to an early lead and maintained that advantage against the Barons.
