A Huntington Beach man is expected to recover from a stab wound he received after a fight outside a bar in Newport Beach, police said.
Police arrested Jasen Meyn, 24, of Reno, Nev., outside Sejour European Bistro and Lounge on Via Lido in Newport Beach early Saturday on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon for reportedly stabbing a 34-year-old John Meyer of Huntington Beach. Authorities located a folding knife in Meyn's pocket at the time of his arrest, Sgt. Evan Sailor said Tuesday.
Police responded to the call of a stabbing between 1:15 a.m. and 1:30 a.m. Saturday, Newport Beach Police Sgt. Jeff Brouwer said, but friends of the alleged victim had already left with the man for Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian's emergency room. Meyer was reportedly stabbed in the lower left portion of his stomach, Brouwer said. The wound was 3 to 4 inches deep, according to police. Meyn, who is suspected of being intoxicated at the time, had allegedly began hassling Meyer's girlfriend, police said.
