Thom Doney, the longtime principal of Liberty Christian School in Huntington Beach, announced Wednesday that he has accepted a new position at a school in Redlands. The school’s assistant principal, Chris Herring, will take over the role of principal.
Doney has worked at Liberty since starting as its assistant principal in 1988. He became the principal of the preschool-through-high-school program in 2001.
Doney was integral in working with his predecessor, Clark Stephens, in fundraising and construction for the school’s new gymnasium and three-story classroom building. He also oversaw the school’s accreditation process with the Western Assn. of Schools and Colleges.
