Dog surf contest to raise money for animals

July 09, 2009

Dogs can catch a wave in the Huntington Beach for SurfinPaws Dog Jam while raising money for the Orange County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals on Saturday.

The event will feature a dog surf contest open to all dogs at the south end of the Dog Beach. The contest is free to the public to watch.

After the competition, dogs and their owners can walk down the red carpet at a hula-themed party. There will be an auction, fashion show, hula dancers and an award ceremony for the winners of the surf contest.

The evening festivities are from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Saturday at the Hilton Waterfront Beach Resort. Tickets for the red carpet event are $10.50 in advance and $20.50 at the door.
