A woman is requesting that the city pay her damages after she was hit in the face with a Frisbee in Huntington Central Park.

Ariana Benavente, 40, an Alpine resident, filed a claim Monday asking the city to pay her hospital bills and unknown amount for future medical treatment. A claim is the precursor to a lawsuit.

The city could not be immediately reached for comment.

Benavente was walking along the lake path for the Brain Tumor Foundation when she was hit on the forehead and nose with a weighted Frisbee from the Frisbee golf course, according to the claim.

According to the claim, the city was negligent, because there should be a protective barrier around the course to keep the Frisbees in.

Benavente suffered internal trauma to her head, nose and eye from the incident.
