Costco might move into Bella Terra

The city’s first Costco could fill the former Mervyns building at Bella Terra.

The 154,000-square-foot store would include a bakery and a gas station. The opening is expected to create more than 200 jobs.

This is the second food store expected to open in Bella Terra. It was announced in November that Whole Foods Market would be taking over the old Circuit City space. Whole Foods is under construction and expected to open in the fall.

The Costco project has to be reviewed and approved by the city before it can begin construction. The current building is expected to be demolished, and construction is expected to take about a year.
