The win sent once-beaten Huntington Valley into a match-up Wednesday with undefeated Ocean View. A win by Huntington Valley Wednesday would force the teams to play one final game today. An Ocean View win Wednesday would give Ocean View the district title and a berth in next week's Area tournament.
Scores from all of Wednesday's division championship series weren't available at press time.
Ocean View had gained the upper hand in the Majors tournament by defeating Fountain Valley, 16-0, on July 1, in a winner's bracket game to emerge as the only undefeated team in the double-elimination event. Ocean View scored its 16 runs in the first two innings. Logan Pouelsen, Nick Pratto and Hagan Danner each had three hits, Armando Duarte had a home run and other hits were recorded by Chad Minato, Luke Williams and Steven Gingery. Pouelsen pitched through three innings and Pratto closing in the fourth when the game was called. The two combined for eight strikeouts and allowed just one hit without a walk.
Undefeated Huntington Valley faced one-loss Ocean View Wednesday in the 9/10 division championship series at Mile Square Park. Huntington Valley handed Ocean View an 11-7 loss on June 29. Also Wednesday, both the 10/11 and Junior division championship series got underway at Westminster Little League. In the 10/11 series, undefeated Ocean View faced a one-loss Huntington Valley team. Ocean View defeated Huntington Valley, 13-2, on July 1. In Juniors play, undefeated Huntington Valley took on a Westminster team it had defeated, 11-6, on June 30.
