Pancakes and safety together in expo

Sunset Beach will talk about disaster preparedness during breakfast.

Come for the pancakes and stay for the life-saving information Saturday at two events in Sunset Beach.

The Sunset Beach Community Assn. is hosting its 47th annual Pancake Breakfast where an Emergency Preparedness Expo will also be going on.

The expo will have information on earthquakes, tsunamis, flooding and other disasters that could strike Orange County. Emergency supplies will be on sale and firefighters will be on hand to teach residents how to use fire extinguishers and hoses.

The Orange County Fire Authority, American Red Cross, Huntington Beach's Community Emergency Response Teams, lifeguards and representatives for gas and electric companies are expected to be on hand.

Both events are from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Sunset Beach Community Lot at 16875 12th St.

The expo is free to attend and the pancake breakfast is $2 for children and $5 for adults.
