Pop Warner kicks off Saturday

Huntington Beach Pop Warner Football and Cheer will kick off its 2010 season Saturday with an Opening Day celebration at Edison High. Huntington Beach Mayor Cathy Green will take part in the festivities, which run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Among the many activities scheduled for the day are a pie toss, hair painting and henna tattoos, a gold fish toss and silent auction. Several food vendors will be set up on site. In addition, league teams will scrimmage throughout the day.

Huntington Beach Pop Warner has served the communities of Huntington Beach, Fountain Valley and Westminster since 1972. Edison High is located at 21400 Magnolia St. Opening day is open to the public.

Vikings travel baseball seeks new players

The H.B. Vikings out of Marina High are currently looking for players ages 8 to 14 for the upcoming travel baseball season. Tryouts will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 29 at the Marina baseball field. Interested players can call (714) 896-0890, or e-mail lake32@aol.com.
