The Huntington Beach Blue Vikings posted their first win of the 2010 Pop Warner Football season Saturday by defeating the visiting South Coast Tritons, 36-6, in Pee Wee Division play at Marina High.
Huntington scored on three of its first four possessions and the Blue Vikings defense didn't allow a point. They were led offensively by Brandon Laszlo, who rushed for three touchdowns and threw for another, a 55-yard scoring pass to Blaine Reiderich. Andrew Schiffner capped the scoring with an eight-yard run.
Nick Paulson was three for three on extra-point kicks. Other notables on the offensive side were Peter McCoy and Johnny Calise, who rushed for 58 and 55 yards, respectively. Matthew Clark and Matthew Wautlet were part of an offensive line that dominated the line of scrimmage.
Defensively, the Blue Vikings were stifling and held the Tritons to just two first downs. Conrad Myers, Kevin White, Eric Rymer and Matthew Zimmerman were standouts in the game. Clark and Laszlo recovered fumbles and Noah Murchison ended the Tritons' first possession with an interception.
