September 23, 2010

Editor's note: The name of the church that owned the Brandywine Homes property was incorrectly stated. It should have said the property was owned by First Christian Church of Huntington Beach.

The Fountain Valley City Council made concessions Tuesday on zoning changes and amended the general plan for a housing and condominium development.

The council unanimously approved a 12-condominium project on Newhope Street and Edinger Avenue and a 16-home project at 18110 Magnolia St. Councilman Guy Carrozzo was absent.

Both projects required the council to approve a zone change and amend the general plan for a higher density level or different land use.

Brandywine Homes is constructing 16 one-and two-story homes from 2,600- to 3,600-square-feet on land owned by First Christian Church of Huntingotn Beach.

The homes will be energy efficient with tankless water heaters, upgraded insulation, energy star appliances and dual pane windows, according to the staff report.

Desai Construction and Developers Inc. was also approved to build 12 two-story condos on the location of the Newhope Discount Liquor store and a vacant lot.

The 1,458- to 1,582-square-foot, three-bedroom condos will have 2.5 bathrooms and a two-car garage, according to the report.

The condos will have a private gated entrance.
