Suspected burglar pleads not guilty

A Huntington Beach man pleaded not guilty Tuesday to breaking into a local elementary school while carrying child pornography.

Celso Solano Arcos, 21, was changed with felony second-degree burglary, possession of child pornography and vandalism causing more than $400 in damages, according to court records.

He is also facing felony charges of second-degree burglary, receiving stolen property and possession of child pornography from another incident, according to court records.

Arcos was allegedly spotted by a maintenance employee just before 1 a.m. Jan. 8 walking around the back of Circle View Elementary School, 6261 Hooker Drive, with a shovel, Huntington Beach police reported.

The employee called the police and, while waiting for them to arrive, heard glass breaking, police reported.

Police found Arcos inside a classroom where he had allegedly broken a window, police reported. Arcos was allegedly under the influence of drugs and had child pornography photographs, police reported. He was arrested at the scene.

Detectives later found evidence linking Arcos to a Sept. 11 burglary of the school and a June 13 burglary of BrightStar Learning Center, a local private school at 6621 Glen Drive.

Arcos is being held in custody in lieu of $20,000 bail, according to Orange County Sheriff's Department records.
