Picking up where it left off in nonleague play, the Edison boys' soccer team won its first two league contests of the season in the previous week.
The Chargers, ranked No. 1 in the CIF Division 1 poll, began league play Jan. 5 with a 4-0 win over Marina, getting goals from Tyler Bigenho, Bajj Chela, Jake Little and Drew Parrish. Last Friday, Edison took a 5-3 win from Fountain Valley. Chela and Mitchell Alvarez both scored twice and Jacob Rushing once. Goalie Scott Campbell had several saves in both games.
Edison, which improved to 15-0 with the two wins, has outscored the opposition, 67-6.
In other boys' soccer action, Marina used a goal by Miguel Rizo — who scored off an assist from Josh Medina — and four saves by David Elias to record a 1-0 victory over visiting Newport Harbor on Friday. In another Sunset game played Friday, Max Talbert scored off a John McFall assist for Huntington in its 2-1 loss to host Los Alamitos.
