The Laguna Beach girls' and boys' swimming teams hosted Orange Coast League foes Saddleback and Calvary Chapel in a tri-meet March 25. The boys' and girls' varsity teams defeated the Roadrunners and Eagles, the girls by scores of 116-24 and 109-10, the boys by finals of 130-28 and 120, 21, respectively.
In the girls' competition, the Breakers won every event against Saddleback and all but one (100 breaststroke) against Calvary Chapel. Turning in top times and wins for Laguna was Yoshi Andersen ( 50 freestyle, 26.43 seconds), Lila Vera (100 fly, 58.3, and 100 back, 1:00.49), Jenna Knott (100 breast vs. Saddleback, 1:21.8) and Paige Watroba was second in the 100 butterfly (1:07.53) and hit a new CIF consideration time.
Laguna's boys were just as successful, winning all but the 100 breaststroke against Saddleback. The Breakers went up against a Calvary Chapel team that had just five varsity swimmers.
Key victories for the Breakers came from Nolan McConnell (200 free, 1:54.12), Billy Wild (200 individual medley, 2:05.61, and 100 free, 51.87) and Samer Alkateb (500 free, 5:23.66). Erik Henrikson was second (1:10.86) in the 100 breaststroke.
