Huntington Beach firefighters and police are investigating the cause of a mobile home fire and the death of an elderly man whose body was found inside the home that was engulfed with flames shortly before midnight April 21.
The Orange County coroner's office did not release the man's identity by deadline Wednesday, pending the results of the investigation. The man was believed to be in his early 90s.
Firefighters responded at 11:25 p.m. to the fire at Sea-Aira Mobile Estates at 6241 Warner Ave., Deputy Fire Marshal Jeff Lopez said.
Another man who was inside the home managed to get out by the time 30 firefighters from Huntington Beach and Fountain Valley arrived at the scene, Lopez said.
It was not clear whether the man who survived was a resident of the mobile home, which became completely destroyed.
Two nearby mobile homes were damaged, but were saved, Lopez said.
The fire was contained by 11:53 p.m., but it was not completely extinguished until 1 a.m., he said.
