Salzman continues dominance on mound

Braydon Salzman pitched a shutout Saturday and the Braves picked up another victory in Ocean View Littler League Majors Division action by using one run to down the Angels, 1-0.

Brian Schlosser started for the Angels and Steven Kotkosky pitched the sixth inning. The lone run of the game was scored in the top of the fourth when Jason Mayorga came home on a wild pitch. The Braves' Jackson Roeder made a key catch in center field in the bottom of the fourth to prevent the Braves from scoring.

Minor A Division

Red Wings 11, Bats 3: The game featured strong pitching by both sides as Red Wings starting pitcher Elijah Blake struck out seven in 4 1/3 innings and Andrew DeCarlo closed the game with four strikeouts and Bats pitcher Cole DiMarco struck out six.

Edward Pelc scored in the first inning to take a 1-0 lead. The Red Wings came back with solid hits by Blake and Jon Gottschalk before DeCarlo hit a three-run home run. The Red Wings strengthen their lead in the third and fourth innings on big hits by Noah Madole, Ryan Putman and Nick Barbisan.

In the fifth inning, the Bats loaded the bases and scored two more runs but Red Wings catcher Evan Gates got his team out of the jam by recorded the last out of the inning at the plate. The Red Wings then increased their lead by scoring five runs in the bottom of the fifth.

Minor B Division

Thunder 13 Mudcats 9: The Thunder used a five-run third inning to get past the Mudcats.

Both teams scored twice in the first inning and Sean Yackley of the Mudcats doubled in the second inning. Thunder shortstop Ryan Carles got his team out of the inning when he caught a shot by the Mudcats' Alec Muirhead for the third out. In the bottom of the second, Kolby Lane had a run-scoring double to highlight the Thunder's five-run inning.

Hooks 13, Seadogs 7: The Hooks started and finished strong, using a pair of five-run rallied to defeat the Seadogs.

Doubles by Micah Blake and Christian Jones and singles by Blake Christiano, Brandon Dompke and Sean Sterbentz, keyed the Hooks' five-run rally. The Seadogs came back with big hits by Tyler Barbisan and Mitchell Schumacher but only scored one run. Seadogs pitcher Sam Myers struck out five in three innings and Blake struck out five in two innings for the Hooks.
