In the first playoff game of a best-of-three Majors Division playoff series between the Twins and Red Sox at Fountain Valley Little League, it was the Twins who came away with a 7-5 victory on Tanner Motske's game-winning hit in a game that went nine innings and lasted 2 hours, 40 minutes at Mile Square Park.
The Twins won the division's first-half title, the Red Sox the second-half championship.
Riley Hanson of the Twins led all hitters by reaching base five times in five plate appearances, getting a double and single to go along with three stolen bases and four runs scored. Garrett Gilmore was two for five with two runs batted in and a run scored, Motske had two hits and two RBIs and Jon Kerchenfaut singled, walked and had a RBI.
Hanson also started on the mound and threw 5 2/3 innings and recorded 11 strikeouts. Nick Taylor threw 3 1/3 innings of relief for the win. He didn't allow a run and gave up three hits and two walks with three strikeouts.
