"When I started rounding first base … I got the chills talking about it right now," Sellers told the Los Angeles Times. "I dreamed of it as a child and for it to happen with my family here like this in my hometown, I feel so blessed."
Sellers is hitting .231 so far (three for 13) for the Dodgers after batting .304 with 14 home runs and 49 runs batted in in triple A.
Chargers win in Hawaii
The Edison High girls' volleyball team captured first place Saturday at the Ann Kang Volleyball Invitational at Iolani High in Oahu, Hawaii. The Chargers went undefeated (8-0 in matches, 16-0 in games) in the 24-team event that also included Orange County teams Huntington Beach, Mater Dei and Newport Harbor.
The Chargers swept Moanalua, 25-19, 25-20, in the final. Huntington Beach went 6-2 and won the Silver bracket title by defeating Mid-Pacific, 25-17, 21-25, 15-9. Mater Dei beat Newport Harbor in the third-place match.
Locals capture showcase tourney
The Wolfpack boys' Under-13 Silver Elite soccer team went undefeated to win the FC Irvine Showcase tournament Sunday. Wolfpack outscored its opponents, 15-4, en route to the title.
