The bar and grill was humid with the number of people crammed inside. Every seat was taken, and the pool tables were converted into couches for kids eating French fries.
The already-noisy room reached a fever pitch Saturday afternoon as Huntington Beach's Ocean View Little League secured a spot in the Little League Baseball World Series final, which they went on to win.
Kids and adults alike took to their feet at Suds Surf City Sports Grill, 5932 Warner Ave., after Ocean View defeated Big Sky Little League from Billings, Mont., 11-2, setting up a final match against Japan. The next day, Ocean View beat Japan 2-1 to take the world title.
"Honestly, like this is amazing," said Garrick Danner, the older brother of Hagen Danner, a pitcher and catcher for Ocean View. "I've never seen so many people cheering for a Little League team."
The room was filled with "OV" baseball caps and marigold yellow T-shirts with "West" on them, resembling what the players wore on the field.
