The doctor is in at Huntington Harbour

A Hoag Hospital urgent care provider has expanded the hospital's reach to Huntington Harbour.

Your Neighborhood Urgent Care opened Hoag Urgent Care, 5355 Warner Ave., Suite 102 on Monday.

Dr. Robert Amster, who is board-certified in emergency and occupational medicine, has an agreement that allows him to open the urgent-care centers using the Newport Beach-based hospital's name.

The new center offers a variety of services, including physical checkups for athletes, flu shots, treatment for sprains, strains and broken bones, and immunizations, said Amster, Your Neighborhood's chief medical officer.

"The section that we have targeted for the urgent care center is an area where we feel is a little underserved in terms of access to emergency and minor injury care as oppose to other centers in Huntington Beach," he said. "This is a much more convenient alternative than the emergency room or other clinics that are further away."

Mayor Joe Carchio said he's happy to have the center come to Huntington Beach.

"I think any time that we can have additional facilities to handle emergency care so people have many more choices is a good thing," he said. "Hoag has a very good reputation, and I know that they'll do a fine job."

The new center is part of a plan to expand Your Neighborhood's reach to patients across the county and provide them with a multitude of health services, Amster said.

Two more urgent care centers, in Anaheim Hills and Rancho Santa Margarita, are scheduled to open by the end of the year, joining Tustin and Orange centers that opened earlier this year.
