Jr. Clinic Oilers continue domination

Two Huntington Beach teams, the Jr. Clinic Oilers and Pee Wee Oilers, picked up victories last weekend as the 2011 Jr. All-American Football season continued in its second month of competition.

Jr. Clinic Division

Huntington Beach 45, Long Beach 0: Huntington ran its record to 5-0 by routing the Jackrabbits.

Aden Eckenwiler rushed for a first-quarter touchdown to put the Oilers on top for good to cap a drive that was kept alive by a 35-yard fourth-down run by Dominic Peseti and a 12-yard gain on a quarterback sneak by Nathan Skorheim. In the second quarter, Peseti ran in for a score and Skorheim recovered a Long Beach fumble with three minutes left in the opening half and later scored on a keeper up the middle. Lyrik Fata's two-point kick brought the score to 26-0.

Jonah Del Rosario, who had a sack on the final play of the half, started the second half by recovering an onside kick for the Oilers. Following an eight-yard run by Blake Gilbert, Eckenwiler scored on a 27-yard run down the left side. Peseti scored on a sweep from six yards out late in the third quarter.

Jake Favazza, Cade Jackman, Daryeus Smolenski, Tristan Britt, Troy Fletcher and Garrett Dailey all had big stops on defense for the Oilers.

Huntington puts its perfect record on the line Saturday in Whittier when it meets the Trojans at 11 a.m.

Pee Wee Division

Huntington Beach 34, South Bay 14: The Oilers rolled out to a 24-0 halftime lead and went on to punish the Packers to run their record to 2-2.

Huntington hosts the Carson Colts at 1 p.m. Saturday at Huntington Beach High.

Clinic Division

Baldwin Hills 20, Huntington Beach 7: Huntington moved the ball successfully throughout the game but had problems in the red zone and fell to the Bruins.

Runs by Chandler Fincher, Ryan Rector, Zach Italasano and Garret Wildermuth gave the Huntington offense a solid start but it took a touchdown run late in the first half by Rector to pull Oilers to within 13-7 at the half. Huntington's defense was stout in the second half and included two fumble recoveries by Nate Orourke and key plays from Trent Fletcher, Ethan Howard and Raymond Baker.

Huntington hosts the Downey Mustangs at 11 a.m. Saturday at Huntington Beach High.
