Edison picked up a big victory in Sunset League play and Ocean View kept its Golden West League record perfect by earning wins Tuesday in girls' soccer action.
Edison exploded for three second-half goals against visiting Marina and went on to shut out the Vikings, 4-0. Mackenzie Cerda scored twice, Angelisa Cortez had a goal and two assists, Kelsey McKay scored once and both Brooke Lillywhite and Karly Freeman had an assist.
Chargers goalies Natalie McNeely and Alison Jahansouz each had a save and combined for the shutout.
Edison improved to 2-1-1 in league and 11-5-2 overall. Marina dropped to 2-2 in league.
"I felt we played a little hesitant first half but established tenacity in the first 10 minutes of the second half to put the game out of reach," Edison Coach Kerry Crooks said. "We are anticipating a battle on Thursday against Los Alamitos and the girls are excited for the competition."
