Rodney Alcala, 68, who is on death row for the murder of a 12-year-old Huntington Beach girl and four others, will be extradited to New York to face charges of two other murders, a Marin County judge ruled Tuesday.
The news about the infamous "Dating Game Killer" was welcomed by Orange County Assistant District Attorney Dan Wagner, who said the extradition will not delay the appeal process here in California.
"We're supportive of the idea of him being extradited and having to face charges and be held responsible for what he's done in other states," Wagner said, adding that he would be pleased if family members and loved ones of the victims finally get closure.
