Huntington Beach started the second half of Sunset League boys' volleyball action Tuesday with another sweep and maintained its status as the league's top team.

Sixth-ranked Huntington took a 25-16, 25-17, 25-15 victory from visiting Fountain Valley. Also Tuesday, second-place Newport Harbor scored a 30-28, 25-19, 25-15 win from Edison and Los Alamitos outlasted Marina, 25-23, 25-21, 15-25, 25-18.

Huntington improved to 6-0 in league and 16-3 overall after sweeping visiting Fountain Valley for the second time this season. The win was the 11th straight for the Oilers, who received a match-high 12 kills from senior outside hitter Shayon Aram. Sophomore outside hitter Brendan Sander added nine kills.

Fountain Valley fell to 1-5 in league.

Steven Roach had 28 assists for Edison (1-5 league) in its loss to Newport Harbor (5-1). Logan Atkinson had 23 kills and 11 digs, Andrew Pearson 21 kills and 12 digs, Chad McCalistar 10 digs and Tyler Linderg 44 assists for Marina (2-4) in its loss to Los Alamitos (4-2).

Last week, Huntington traveled to Hawaii for the Kamehameha Cup and returned to Surf City with the title from the inaugural tournament. The Oilers went 4-0 at the event, which started April 12, and defeated host Kamehameha-Kapalama, 3-1 in games in Saturday's final.

Oilers Coach Craig Pazanti said that Zach Gates, Matt Butler, Edgar Palos and Andrew Tenbrink, gave "great individual performances."

"This was an awesome trip for the team," Pazanti said. "Aside from playing good volleyball and winning the tournament, it was a great chance for this group bond in a non-traditional setting. I think this will definitely help us as the playoffs are quickly approaching."

In Sunset League matches Friday, Huntington hosts Los Alamitos at 4:30 p.m., Marina travels to face Newport Harbor at 4:30 p.m. and Fountain Valley hosts Edison at 5:45 p.m.
