Twins score early, often against Angels

Jake Bitzer goes the distance, allowing two runs on three hits, one walk and struck out four in first game of three-game series.

The Fountain Valley Twins scored early, built a big lead, and then went on to get the best of the Fountain Valley Angels, 13-2, in the opening game of the league's Majors Division best-of-three series at Mile Square Park in Fountain Valley.

An RBI single in the top of the first inning by Luke Arnold started the game off for the Twins. The lead expanded to 5-0 in the top of the fourth when Tanner Motske started the inning with a line drive home run to center field. It was the first home run of the season for Motske. Pablo Crespo had a two-run single and later scored on an infield ground out by Chanson Ching. It was the first of two singles in the game for Crespo.

The Twins increased their lead to 13-0 in the top of the sixth behind a two-run double by Grant Mixer and RBI hits Jake Bitzer, Luke Logan and Trenton Ching.

The Angels got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the sixth on a two-run home run to left-center field by Anthony Meneses. Bitzer then retired the next three batters for the first complete game of his career. He allowed two runs on three hits with one walk, and struck out four.

Motske also singled and doubled and led the Twins' 11-hit attack with three hits and he scored twice. Logan went two for three with a walk and scored three runs.

Minor A Division

Angels 15, Giants 5: The Angels picked up 18 hits in their third postseason playoff game to knock off the Giants. Niko Colburn (one double), Chandler Kane and Sean McCrimmon each had three hits, Levi Perelman doubled twice , Dylan Harrigan had two hits and Donovan Phillips, Andrew Lytle, Jonah Goble and Noah Perelman all singled for the Halos. Colburn and Harrigan combined for eight strikeouts. Goble turned a double play at second base and Sean Angelovic also made key defensive plays.

Minor B Division

Yankees 13, Phillies 3: The Yankees rode an early offensive explosion en route to their playoff victory against the Phillies. The Yankees scored five runs in the first inning capped Kobe Linson's bases-clearing, three-run triple. Ryan Rivituso's two-run double highlighted a five-run second inning for the Yankees. Rivituso and Tanner Gunnell shared pitching duties and held the Phillies to three runs.
