The South winner advances to face the Sub-Division III North winner in the best-of-three 9-10 Baseball Division III State tournament starting Saturday in Temple City.
The Division III State tournament is the final All-Star tournament of the postseason for the 9/10 division.
Robinwood opened Sub-Division III South play Saturday against Deer Canyon, and scored a 13-2 victory. Andrew Sojka went three for three with a home run and Jake Vogel, Caden Kendle, Rocco Peppi and Zeke Franco each had two hits. Vogel also walked twice and scored four runs.
Robinwood returned Sunday to rout Corona National, 17-1. Evan Manzo went three for four with a pair of doubles, Vogel homered and singled, Ryan Gregory went two for two, and Shane Stafford had a hit and RBI and scored twice.
On Monday, Robinwood turned back Rancho San Diego, 9-5. Vogel started the game with a lead-off home run and finished three for five. Kendle also went three for five, Manzo went three for four, and Christian Hill two for two.
In 10 postseason games through Tuesday, Robinwood had outscored the opposition, 113-14.
"These boys have exceeded all of our expectations," Robinwood coach Geoff Kendle said. "They play with heart and passion rarely seen in 9-10 year-old boys. Whether in the starting lineup or coming off the bench, there are no holes on this team."
Huntington Beach Water Polo Club will be well represented in the coming week at the 2012 USA Water Polo Junior Olympics. Huntington has qualified teams in the 10-and-Under Coed, 12U, 14U, 16U, and 18U divisions. The national tournament, in its 43rd year, will be played at Palo Alto and its surrounding communities.
The Junior Olympics boys' tournament starts Saturday and runs through Tuesday. Both the girls' and 10U Coed tournaments get underway Aug. 2 and run through Aug. 5.
Track and Field
Anthony Delatorre of Huntington Beach is competing at the 46th annual USA Track and Field Junior Olympics Track and Field Championships in Baltimore. The championships started Monday and ends Sunday.
Delatorre, 13, is competing in the Youth Division. He qualified for the national tournament after finishing in second place at the USATF Southern California Association Championships on June 8, and finishing third at the USATF Region 15 Championships.
