The Huntington Beach zoning administrator plans to rule Wednesday on an Arizona-based company's application for a permit to host an annual classic car auction.
Russo and Steele, which specializes in hot rods, muscle cars and other models from the 1970s and earlier, has proposed an auction in the City Beach parking lot for four days every June from 2013 to 2017. The company also runs auctions in Monterey and Scottsdale, Ariz.
The event, including setup and takedown, would require use of the lot for 11 days and displace up to 588 parking spaces. To remedy that, the company proposes setting up five remote parking areas where visitors could leave their cars for free and take a shuttle to the beach.
