The Surf City Breakers, an AYSO Region 56 Under-14 girls' Extra team from South Huntington Beach, won the JUSA Signature Friendship Tournament on Sunday in Yorba Linda. The Breakers won two games and tied a third to advanced to the division final. In the title game, the Breakers and host Yorba Linda fought to a scoreless tie through regulation. The Breakers earned the championship when Alexa Tangonan, Bailey Goetz and Gianna DiLiberto converted penalty kicks, and goalie Megan Undlin registered three saves.
Also contributing to the title run were Brielle DiLiberto, Kyla Hughes, Clara Gattenby, Katie Matson, Lauryn Alexander, Thuy Bercher, Layla Steinle, and Michelle McLean. The Breakers are coached by Derek Bercher and AJ DiLiberto.

Pop Warner opening ceremony is Saturday
Huntington Beach Pop Warner Football is hosting its opening ceremony for the 2012 season at 8 a.m. Saturday at Edison High. Activities also include a festival from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., featuring interactive booths, games, dunk tank, food and a silent auction. Teams will play scrimmages between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
