Setter Shaquile Phuong came off the bench to spark Fountain Valley (13-9, 2-4 in league) in the second and third sets.
"It was a tough match and we made strides as a team to get better by the end of the match," Fountain Valley Coach Todd Hanson said. "Hopefully, we can carry this on to the Newport Harbor match on Thursday."
Tuesday's sweep by Huntington was the third sweep in as many matches in the past week for the Oilers. They posted a 34-32, 25-22, 25-21 win Friday at Edison, with DeFalco getting 17 kills and four assists, senior middle blocker Andrew TenBrink seven kills and three blocks, and senior setter Matt Butler had 36 assists and 10 digs.
The Oilers also were 25-18, 25-17, 25-14 winners on April 9 against Los Alamitos. Evans had six kills and two blocks and junior outside hitter Brenden Sander had seven kills.
Huntington plays host to Marina on senior night at 5:45 Friday.
Fountain Valley split its two previous league matches prior to taking on Huntington. The Barons edged host Marina, 25-23, 26-24, 22-25, 27-25, Friday and were led by outside hitter Jake Thibodeau and opposite Scott Cronick, who both had 10 kills.
Fountain Valley fell in four sets to Edison, 13-25, 11-25, 25-22, 23-25, on April 9. Cronick also had 10 kills in that match and middle blocker Andrew Wise had nine kills.
The Barons play host to Newport Harbor at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
In another Sunset League match Tuesday, Los Alamitos edged host Marina, 25-17, 21-25, 25-19, 23-25, 15-13.
Ocean View squared its Golden West League record at 2-2 and the Seahawks improved to 2-8 overall by sweeping host Orange Friday, 25-7, 25-22, 25-23. Middle blockers Khemit Osborne and Jake Womak both had eight kills.
