Quarterback Alek Torgersen of Edison High threw a 35-yard touchdown late in the first half of Friday's Orange County North-South All-Star Football Game at Orange Coast College and it proved to be enough for the South, which took a 7-3 victory.
Torgersen, who will attend the University of Pennsylvania, was seven of 15 for 90 yards. He also rushed 12 times for 49 yards and was selected the Offensive Player of the Game.
Torgersen's scoring pass went to wide receiver Scott Hoover of San Juan Hills and it put the South in front to stay with 4:46 left before halftime.
Marina lineman Izak Faoa also had a big game for the North. He recorded four sacks and shared the Defensive Player of the Game award with the South defensive end Garrett Marino (Mission Viejo) who also registered four sacks.
Torgersen's Edison teammates, Trenton Aschoff and Miah Frost, and Huntington Beach's Milo Aviles, also played for the South.
