A Huntington Beach woman died over the weekend outside Telluride, Colorado in what the local sheriff called a freak skiing accident. Mary Scott King, 50, was skiing across a creek with a guide at about 11 a.m. Saturday when she fell and got her head stuck between two rocks underwater. The guide was unable to pull her out, and when a crew finally removed her 10 minutes later, she was not breathing, according to San Miguel County Sheriff Bill Masters. King was pronounced dead at the scene.

A man struck by a car and killed as he walked across Beach Boulevard Sunday evening has been identified by the Orange County Coroner, authorities said. The man was Matthew Andrew Mock, 28, of Fountain Valley, authorities said. Barbara Rodermond, 56, of Huntington Beach, was driving north on a green light at Beach Boulevard and Talbert Avenue when her silver Ford Explorer struck Mock, police said. It appeared Mock was crossing against the red light, police said. Rescuers rushed Mock to Huntington Beach Hospital, but he died of his injuries minutes later, according to authorities.

Two Huntington Beach women died in separate traffic incidents Saturday night and Sunday morning, according to police. Kelly Morehouse, 25, died at UCI Medical Center after she and a male motorcyclist were reportedly hit by a Lexus sedan around 8:35 p.m. Saturday in the intersection of Goldenwest Street and Rio Vista Drive, according to a news release. The 24-year-old man, who was driving a Harley Davidson, and Morehouse were heading south on Goldenwest while Tadashi Mizutani, 68, Huntington Beach, was driving north on the same street.

Bryce Alderton Three teenage girls form Huntington Beach were killed late Tuesday when their car was struck by a suspected drunk driver, police said. Jillian Baedeker, 19, and Nancy Le, 18, died instantly after a yellow 1983 Ford Mustang driven by 27-year-old James Paul Bell Jr. from Rowland Heights broadsided their 1996 silver Nissan Sentra, police said. The accident occurred just before midnight at the corner of Beach Boulevard and Edinger Avenue.

Two passengers in a pickup truck that struck a tree in Huntington Beach remain in critical condition at UCI Medical Center, police said Wednesday. Huntington Beach residents Sean VanAllen, 21, and Christopher Costello, 22, were taken to the medical center after the truck they were riding in struck a tree at 5:43 p.m. Monday near the intersection of Delaware Street and Atlanta Avenue, police reported. "As far as I know they're still [doing fine] and in the hospital," said Sgt. Gary Meza.
