In postseason All-Star play, there has been no stopping the Robinwood express. Tuesday in south Mission Viejo, the Robinwood 9/10 team put the exclamation point on an overpowering run through its most recent journey by winning the Little League Section 10 All-Star Tournament. Robinwood accomplished the feat by crushing Aliso Niguel (District 55), 12-2, at Youth Athletic Park. By winning Section 10, Robinwood advances to its next destination, the 9/10 Baseball Sub-Division III South tournament in Riverside.

Ocean View Little League's magical summer began last year with a District 62 title and ended with a World Series championship in Williamsport, Pa. But there was a changing of the guard Monday night at Mile Square Park in Fountain Valley. Huntington Valley dug its way out of a three-run hole against Ocean View and went on the dethrone the reigning champs, 8-3, to win the District 62 Major Division All-Star Tournament. Huntington Valley, which went undefeated in the tournament, advances to Section tournament play July 14 at Woodfield Park in Aliso Viejo.

Through mid-week, one local Little League All-Star team — Ocean View's Majors All-Stars — was in the hunt for a California Section 10 tournament championship. Four other local teams, Ocean View's 10/11 and 9-10 All-Stars, Huntington Valley's Junior All-Stars and Robinwood's Senior All-Stars, saw their postseason runs come to an end earlier this week. * Majors All-Stars Ocean View, which went undefeated to win the District 62 championship on July 6, suffered its first postseason loss Tuesday when Rancho Mission Viejo (District 68)

The Costa Mesa-based restaurant chain Beach Pit BBQ has taken over a downtown Huntington Beach barbecue joint. Beach Pit BBQ has acquired Smokin' Mo's BBQ, 301 Main St., and opened Tuesday. The new restaurant will offer its signature all-you-can-eat ribs Wednesday nights, wine night Thursdays and Philly cheese steak Fridays, and kids will eat for free Tuesdays. The Beach Pit, which started in Costa Mesa, has expanded to Tustin and Old Towne Orange. It is expected to open locations in Laguna Niguel and Aliso Viejo.

HUNTINGTON BEACH --- Sometimes the curveball didn’t curve and went behind the Ocean View batter. But, too often, it found the strike zone Sunday. South Mission Viejo pitcher Wesley VandenBranden shut down the Ocean View bats for much of the day as South Mission Viejo posted a 5-1 victory in the Little League Section 10 9/10-Year-Old All-Star tournament. South Mission Viejo advanced to the championship series Tuesday, while Ocean View will face Aliso Viejo tonight (Monday)

Fans were treated to outstanding baseball at the District 62 Juniors All-Stars championship game played Monday at Johnson Middle School in Westminster. Seaview squeaked by Robinwood 4-2. The game was close throughout with both teams getting out of jams on several occasions, keeping the score tight. Erik McCoy's 2-RBI hit in the 1st inning gave Seaview the lead which they never surrendered. Seaview pitcher, Aaron Rakhshani pitched efficiently and was backed by solid infield defense provided by Jacob Rushing, Shaun Thompson, Connor Ahern, and Erik McCoy.
