The Ocean View Little League Majors All-Star team saw its postseason run come to an end Monday in an 8-5 loss to North Mission Viejo in Section 10 tournament play at Seaview Little League’s LeBard Park. District 62 champion Ocean View began sectional play Saturday at Seaview Little League and scored a 2-1 victory over North Mission Viejo (District 68). But on Sunday, Ocean View suffered its first tournament loss, 6-2, to Aliso Viejo (District 55). The following a recap of Ocean View’s run. Ocean View 2, North Mission Viejo 1: Ben Drolet and Max Gibbs pitched a combined two-hitter to lead Ocean View to a 2-1 victory Saturday.

Fans were treated to outstanding baseball at the District 62 Juniors All-Stars championship game played Monday at Johnson Middle School in Westminster. Seaview squeaked by Robinwood 4-2.  The game was close throughout with both teams getting out of jams on several occasions, keeping the score tight.  Erik McCoy's 2-RBI hit in the 1st inning gave Seaview the lead which they never surrendered.  Seaview pitcher, Aaron Rakhshani pitched efficiently and was backed by solid infield defense provided by Jacob Rushing, Shaun Thompson, Connor Ahern, and Erik McCoy.

The North Huntington Beach Futbol Club's NHB Black, a girls' Under-11 team, went on the defensive last weekend to win the Long Beach Pyramid Cup soccer tournament. NHB Black recorded three shutouts in group play to reach the championship match, where they also pinned a shutout on the Long Beach Soccer Club, 6-0, to win the title. NHB opened group play by with a 4-0 win over the Long Beach Heat. Alex Karlow scored twice to lead the offense which also received goals from Kendra Koelsch and Kayla Wigney.

Huntington Valley Little League's 9/10 All-Star team had its run come to an end Sunday in the Section 5 tournament. Huntington Valley, champion of District 62, fell to District 30 winner Orange, 10-0, in the double-elimination tournament played at Woodfield Park in Aliso Viejo. The game was halted after four innings by the mercy rule. Huntington Valley went 1-2 in the tournament. Manager Ron Wilson said the locals dropped their opener Friday to District 68 champion Mission Viejo, 11-1, but bounced back Saturday to eliminate Anaheim Loara of District 46, 3-1. In the win over Loara, starter Andrew Bogard, reliever Sean O'Toole and closer Jake Weiser combined on the victory.

Arraignment put off in molestation case The arraignment for a Newport Beach man charged with child annoyance after he allegedly engaged in "intimate physical contact" with a 15-year-old girl, has been postponed, according to the Orange County district attorney's office. Thomas Konnerth MacFarlane, 48, a former music teacher and chorale instructor at Temple Bat Yahm in Newport Beach, was arrested Aug. 26. MacFarlane allegedly had inappropriate contact with the child on several occasions at the temple, in MacFarlane's Newport Beach home, and in Aliso Viejo, police said.
