Backed by a stingy defense and the solid play of goalkeeper Daniel Ane, the Avalanche picked up their fourth victory of the season by blanking the Stars, 2-0, in Campbell Division play at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington Beach. Ane was responsible for 20 saves, and Allison Dufault scored once with an assist to pace the offense for the Avalanche of the Campbell East Division, who stayed undefeated since a season-opening loss to improve to 4-1-1 overall.

The Predators overcame a two-goal deficit by posting a big third-period rally that carried them to a 7-6 victory over the Avalanche in Wales Division play at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center. The Predators outscored the Avalanche, 3-0, in the final quarter to overcome a 6-4 deficit. Eric Morejon's three goals and assist paced the Predators. Brad Wilson scored twice with an assist and Bryan Arrieta and Ian Livesay each scored once. Jeff Fuzzard had 18 saves.

The Avalanche outscored the Avengers, 3-1, in the decisive third period and went on to score an 8-6 victory to wrap up the regular season Wales Division title. The division's top two teams were even at 6-6 through two periods of play. The win gave the Avalanche (8-1-1) the division's No. 1 seed in this week's playoffs, which culminates with Saturday's championship match at 9 a.m. The Avengers go into the playoffs with a No. 2 seed and 7-2-1 record.

Mike Sciacca Brett Morinaka and Nicholas Modrak both posted goals in a shootout period to lift the Avalanche past the Lightning, 6-5, in a Norris Division playoff game. Modrak also scored in the third period to help lead the Avalanche into overtime, and assisted Marcus Kurth's second period goal. Kurth and Bryan Hodges scored opening period goals for the Avalanche, who received 16 saves from Matthew Inouye. Travis Beckman scored twice -- including his team's only goal in the shootout session, Stephen Marchand scored twice, Michael Marchand scored once and had two assists and Chris Weldon had a pair of assists for the Lightning.

The Thunder laid claim to the Lemieux Division championship by edging the Avalanche, 4-3, at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington Beach. Sam Robinson posted three goals to lead all scorers and Matt Braun also scored for the Thunder. Robinson, Travis Murray and Jeffrey Kurokawa each had an assist. Brandon Rodriguez recorded 18 saves for the Thunder. Brett Martin's two goals and assist paced the Avalanche. Mats Degerstedt scored the other Avalanche goal, and Jaryd Mason had 20 saves.

Mike Sciacca, Independent Michael Thomas netted three goals to lead the Stars to a 4-0 victory over the Avalanche in an Adams Division matchup. Ryan Humphrey also scored and Zachary Beko recorded the save with 15 saves. In other games: Sythers 4, Mad Dogs 3 Trevor Millikan posted three goals -- including the game-winner in the third period -- to lift the Sythers. Noah Johnson also scored and Jonathan Millikan had 16 saves. Sean Mastro scored twice, David Mastro scored once, Maggie Prizler and Ethan Higbee each had an assist and Michael Godinho had 15 saves for the Mad Dogs.

Levi Vanderkwaak recorded 16 saves and the Avalanche defense kept the Panthers off the scoreboard in a 6-0 Norris Division victory at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington Beach. Tanner Chang's two goals and two assists led the Avalanche offensively. Dillon Chang and Nathaniel Hughes each had a goal and assist and Dylan Luther and Chad Carpenter each had a goal. In other games: Terminators 3, Hot Shots 0 Austin Shannon had 15 saves as the Terminators shut down the Hot Shots.

Zachary Harriman scored off a Leo Marquez assist in the third period to account for the only scoring in the Norris Division match, as the Terminators edged the Big Dogs, 1-0, at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center. Austin Shannon recorded the shutout victory with 16 saves. The Big Dogs' David Mastro also had a big game in the net with 21 saves. In other Norris Division games: Hot Shots 4, Avalanche 3 The Avalanche took a 3-0 lead into the final period and held on for the win. Nathaniel Hughes scored two goals, David Luther scored once and Levi Vanderkwaak had 24 saves for the Avalanche.

Gregory Williams scored a division-best five goals Monday to lead the Roller Dogs to a 7-5 victory over the Hornets in Smythe Division action at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington Beach. Brock Bowden completed the Roller Dogs scoring by netting his team's two other goals. Robert Vierregger scored twice to lead the Hornets, who also received single goals from Brittany Downer, Ian Jahns, and Andrew Kee. In other games: Avalanche 3, Bombers 2 Jacob Hill scored off a Cody Bertrand feed in the third period to give the Avalanche the victory.

Cole Thormodsgaard and Joel Dapello each netted three goals to power the Diablos past their Wales Division rivals, the Renegades 7-3 at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington Beach. Each also broke into the assist column, finishing with a pair of assists. Casey Childers also scored and Ben Piontkowski had an assist. Timothy Francis recorded 22 saves in goal for the Diablos. In other Wales Division matches: Predators 6, Thunder 2 Andrew Skowron scored three goals and assisted on two other scores to lead the Predators.
