A Huntington Beach business owner wrestled down a burglary suspect who allegedly attempted to stab him with a screwdriver until police arrived Sunday. Police arrested Randall Sebreros, 50, of Buena Park, on suspicion of burglary and assault with a deadly weapon. Sebreros pleaded not guilty to the charges Tuesday, according to court records. The owner of a lawn mower repair shop and his wife noticed several people inside their closed shop as they drove around town at 8:11 p.m. Sunday, said Lt. Russell Reinhart.

A Buena Park man was killed Tuesday afternoon when he was struck by a sport utility vehicle on Beach Boulevard, Huntington Beach police said. Jon Turner, 45, was struck when he walked into the fast lane about 240 feet north of Utica Street, while Kristine Graham, 29, also of Buena Park, was driving her tan Nissan Murano in the fast lane, police said. Police received a call about the collision at 3:22 p.m. Turner was pronounced dead at Huntington Beach Hospital at 4:03 p.m., the county coroner said.

The Estancia High football team saw its struggles with the running game go from bad to worse Friday night as host Buena Park held the Eagles to minus-46 yards rushing in a 17-8 Coyotes victory. The Eagles did manage 82 passing yards, but managed its only touchdown when Matt Redding stripped the ball from a Buena Park running back and returned the fumble 20 yards for with 7:19 left in the game. "We didn't come to play football tonight," said Estancia Coach Brian Barnes, whose team fell to 0-3 and now has minus-24 yards rushing this season.

Ocean View Little League Minor A division Express 8, Bees 5: The Opening Day game of the Ocean View Little League Minor A division was an exciting game between the Express and the Bees. It was a crowd pleaser that had all the parents and fans on their feet for most of the game. At the end, the Express came out on top and scored their first victory of the year. Several of the Express boys had an outstanding day at the plate. Those kids included: Dylan Carter (two for three)

Mary A. Castillo The Orange County Transportation Authority expanded bus service as part of its annual June service change. Improvements include increasing frequency of service to reduce bus overcrowding and wait times at bus stops and to improve coverage, connections and efficiency, said Greg Winterbottom, chairman of Transit Planning and Operations Committee. The changes went into effect on Sunday. The affected routes in Huntington Beach are Route 21 from Buena Park to Huntington Beach and Route 29 from La Habra to Huntington Beach.

Willie Fiscus rushed for two touchdowns and caught a pass for another score Saturday to lead the Huntington Beach Dolphins past the Buena Park Eagles, 28-12. The Dolphins took a 14-0 lead on a 26-yard run by Fiscus and a three-yard scoring run by fullback Brian Dies, with Brian Shrock hitting Dallas Gomez with a conversion pass following Dies' run. Buena Park cut the lead to 14-6 with 2:39 left in the half but Shrock marched the Dolphins, who were running their two-minute offense, down field and completed the drive by hitting Fiscus in the corner of the end zone with 30 seconds remaining.

Four local prep football teams have made their way into the postseason. The four teams - Edison, Fountain Valley, Huntington Beach and Brethren Christian - will start the third leg of their season's journey with first-round games Friday in the CIF Southern Section Football Championships. Edison, Fountain Valley and Huntington Beach are all part of the Southwest Division field. The Chargers, the division's defending champion, will play at home for their opening game. The Barons and Oilers, are on the road for their openers.

Twelve teams will put their passing game to the test Saturday when they battle it out at the Huntington Beach Passing Tournament at Huntington Beach High. The tourney includes eight teams from Orange County, two from L.A. County and two from Riverside County. Each team will play two pool play games in the morning before each moves on to afternoon action. Each team will receive a seed for the afternoon session based on the outcome of morning session games. The six seeded games will be played at noon.
