A man who police say kept a woman packed in ice at the Fairmont Newport Beach hotel probably won’t be charged on any counts involving her death, prosecutors said Tuesday. Stephen Royds kept the body of former Huntington Beach resident and his girlfriend Monique Felicia Trepp packed in dry ice in a 2-by-3-foot green plastic bin in the hotel room for about a year, police said. She was 33 when she died. A recent autopsy report showed Trepp died from an overdose of cocaine and alcohol, according to the Orange County coroner’s office.

Landon Milhone and Jason Austin each scored two goals and the Rink Rats collected a victory in Campbell Division play by skating past Dry Ice, 6-3, at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington Beach. Austin's two scores sandwiched back-to-back goals by Milhone, but it was Adam Khouri's unassisted goal in the first quarter that put the Rink Raiders on the scoreboard. Shane Williams, who also had two assists, closed out the Rink Rats' scoring with a goal off a Richie Bloch feed in the third period.

Behind a defense that didn't yield a single goal and an offense that came on strong over the final two periods, Dry Ice scored a 6-0 shutout over the Hot Shotz in Norris Division action at the Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center. Dry Ice took a 1-0 lead in the first quarter when Alexander Gomez scored off an assist from Brayden Moore. Goals by Drew Truxaw and another by Gomez, which also came off a feed from Moore, increased the lead to 3-0 through two periods. Alex Buyan, Truxaw and Alec Dahl all scored goals in the third period, when Truxaw assisted two of those goals, and Buyan and Connor Cudeback shared an assist.

Prosecutors and police investigators hesitate to draw any conclusions about why a Huntington Beach woman?s body was preserved in a container of dry ice for months in a swanky Newport Beach hotel. Officers found the fully-clothed, frozen body of 33-year-old Monique Trepp when they searched the ninth-floor hotel room of Stephen Royds at the Fairmont Newport Beach hotel last week. Officers arrested Royds March 6 on suspicion of possessing and selling narcotics and proceeded to search his room.

The Roadrunners applied defensive pressure on the Rink Rats and never let up during their Campbell Division encounter at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center, scoring a 5-0 shutout victory. Goalie Trent Morsk recorded 14 saves in getting the shutout. Tatum Coats accounted for much of the match's scoring by posting the first four goals, three of which came in the second period. Chad Sasaki, who assisted the final three goals scored by Coats, scored the final goal for the Roadrunners.

The Lucky Charms opened up a three-goal lead on the Soccer Rockers in their AYSO Region 56 girls? Under-9 division match Saturday, but then had to score the game?s final goal to claim a 4-3 victory. That 3-0 lead was established in the first half with two goals from Gretchen Kirkreit, and another by Lauren Schuck. The Soccer Rockers staged a big second half comeback to tie the score. Jessica Ruggiero posted two goals in the third quarter and then went on to record a hat trick by scoring another goal in the fourth quarter that drew her team into a 3-3 tie in the closing minutes.

The Bruins sprinted to a 2-0 lead on the Storm in the championship final of the Howe Division playoffs Saturday and rode that start to a 4-1 title-clinching victory at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington Beach. Mark Clifford opened and closed the scoring for the Bruins and led players with two goals. The Bruins also got single scores from Jason Saenz and Nicholas Thompson. Kian Nafison picked up two assists, Saenz had an assist and Savannah Patton recorded 23 saves.

The Blasters began play in the Adams Division on a winning note as they defeated the Wings, 5-3, at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington Beach. Matthew Bodge scored three goals to lead all scorers. Teammate Parker Andrews scored twice and Alexander Taros had an assist. Trevor Dilauro recorded 15 saves. Seth Herft scored twice and McKenna Shaver had one goal for the Wings. In other games: Slickshoes 4, Blackhawks 2 Adriana Concepcion scored twice to lead the Slickshoes.

The Roadrunners scored six goals in the final two periods and used that surge to sprint past Campbell Division rival Dry Ice, 7-2, at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington Beach. Chad Sasaki led all scorers with three goals. Teammates Riley Draghi scored twice, and Erin Ozturk and Robert Becker each scored once. Draghi, Harrison Eggert and Tatum Coats each had an assist, and Trent Morsk had nine saves. Jimmy Martin scored both goals -- each unassisted -- for Dry Ice, and Luke Winstead finished with 17 saves.

But this man, Stephen Royds, kept the body of former Huntington Beach resident Monique Felicia Trepp in dry ice in a 2-by-3-foot plastic bin in a room at the Fairmont Newport Beach hotel, police say. Shouldn?t there be a law against that? Well, there is. It?s a misdemeanor offense to fail to report a death. Which begs the question: Shouldn?

The Blackhawks picked up another victory in Smythe Division play Monday by defeating Dry Ice, 3-2, at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington Beach. Andrew Armstrong opened and closed the scoring for the Blackhawks, who never trailed. Kevin Ozeretny scored the other Blackhawks goal and Alexander Taros, Nicholas Thompson and Ryan Sprague each had an assist. Jesse Mellema registered 26 saves. Aaron Maccabi had a goal and assist for Dry Ice. Alex Buyan also scored, and Colin Reyes had an assist.

Paul Wirth, Lukas Welinder and Spencer Reeves scored goals in an overtime shootout to lift the Blue Diamonds past the Diablos, 5-2, in the championship final of the Smythe Division winter playoffs at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington Beach. The score was tied, 2-2, through regulation. Welinder and Reeves also had scored in regulation and Kyle Skitco had an assist. Thomas Wirth finished with 20 saves. In other division championship action Campbell Division Slashers 5, Ducks 3 Tanner Osterkamp scored three goals to lead the Slashers on offense.

The Stars defense recorded a shutout and the offense mustered enough offense to score a 2-0 victory over the Flyers in a Norris Division match at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington Beach. Following a scoreless first quarter, Colin Reyes posted a second-quarter goal to give the Stars a 1-0 lead. They got an insurance goal from Trenton Shehan in the third quarter. Kyler Scott got the shutout behind 17 saves. Trevor Scott had 27 saves for the Flyers. In other Norris Division action Dry Ice 8, Breakers 3 Dry Ice jumped out to a 3-0 first-quarter lead and led the entire way in defeating the Breakers.
