CHARGERS BUBBA REYNOLDS DL/FB 5-11, 190, SOPHOMORE Came up with 10 tackles, a sack and had a fumble recovery during Edison High's 28-3 victory over Marina High. BARONS CHRIS ABEYTA WIDE RECEIVER 6-1, 180, SENIOR Caught four passes for 62 yards and a touchdown, and also came up with solid tackling in a 34-14 loss to Los Alamitos High. OILERS MIKE DeHART FS/WR/K 6-2, 190, SENIOR Had eight solo and four assisted tackles, one caused fumble and a 41-yard field goal in a 30-11 loss to Esperanza High.

Despite falling behind in the early stages of Saturday's game against Saddelback Valley's Golden Bears, the Huntington Beach Mighty Mite Gold Chargers staged a spirited rally, only to come up on the short end of a 26-19 score in Pop Warner Football action held at Edison High. Gregory Souders led the scoring for the Gold Chargers with touchdown runs of 45 and 50 yards, and Christopher Halamandaris's all-around performance, which included four solo tackles, paced the Huntington Beach defense.

Edison golf tourney deadline is Friday The Edison High football program will present the 2007 Pro-Sport and Celebrity Golf Tournament on July 9 at Mile Square Golf Course in Fountain Valley. The scramble start includes 144 golfers and 36 teams. Registration begins at 11 a.m. The $150 entry fee includes 18 holes of golf including cart, special events, lunch, awards dinner banquet, raffle and silent auction. In addition, participants have the chance to win $100,000 in a hole-in-one shootout.

Kljestan earns all-region honors in men's soccer Huntington Beach's Sacha Kljestan, who plays men's soccer for Seton Hall University in South Orange, N.J., was one of four Pirates named to the Adidas/National Soccer Coaches Assn. of America Mid-Atlantic Region All-American teams. Kljestan, a freshman, earned second-team honors. In addition, he earned third-team All-Big East Conference status and was one of the conference leaders in assists. Twice during the season Kljestan was named the conference's Rookie of the Week.

The Huntington Beach Jr. Pee Wee Green Chargers jumped out to a quick two-touchdown lead on Yorba Linda Saturday but couldn't sustain that momentum and ended up on the short end of a 34-14 loss to the visiting Warriors in Pop Warner Football action at Edison High. Sean Corcoran came up with a fumble recovery on the first play from scrimmage, which set up a touchdown run by Eugene Starikov. The other Green Charger score was an 80-yard burst by Josh Herrera, which gave Huntington Beach a 14-0 advantage through the first quarter of play.

Asher Nolan received a big birthday bonus Sunday, winning first-place in the Pro/Am Division at last weekend's Huntington Beach Surf Series contest held at Goldenwest St. Nolan gave a clean, sharp, and polished performance in 3-5 foot waves under sunny skies and defeated a field that included runner-up Cory Whitlock, third-place Mark Moreno, and fourth-place Mike Hoisington. For his efforts, Nolan claimed the Pro/Am top prize of $7000. Edison High sophomore Chad Andino beat back a competitive field to win the Boys Division event.
