In the first of two high-scoring Patrick Division playoff matches played Tuesday at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington Beach, the Ice Dogs outlasted the Bruins, 13-12. In the match that preceded it, it was the Goonies who pulled out a 10-9 win over the Outlaws. Ice Dogs 13, Bruins 12 In a match that saw both teams assaulting the goal, it took a score by Matthew Moore with 53 seconds left to give the Ice Dogs the hard-fought win. The Bruins had tied the score (12-12)

The Storm put another notch in the win column Tuesday by defeating the Hawks, 7-4, in Howe Division play at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington Beach. Andrew Leming, Auston Leming and Aaron Dorff each scored twice to lead the Storm on offense. Jeremy Corwin scored once and had an assist and Auston Leming also had an assist. Ricky Zatarain recorded 16 saves. Andrew Schenker and Stuart Urbano each scored twice for the Hawks. Urbano also had an assist and Savannah Patton finished with 21 saves.

The Outlaws pulled away from a tight Patrick Division match against the Ice Dogs by scoring seven goals in the final period and went on to record a 10-4 victory at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington Beach. Zach Gillespie scored the first two goals to begin the scoring onslaught in a period where the Outlaws defense didn?t give up a goal. Garrick Langer and Alec Schartner also scored twice, and Micah Cree once in the period. Gillespie finished with four goals, overall, and Langer had three.

The Pirates and Outlaws played on even terms for two periods in the Lemieux Division summer league championship final Saturday, but the Pirates claimed the division title with two goals in the second period in an 8-6 victory at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington Beach. Six Pirates went into the scoring column led by two goals apiece by Eric Stoner and Jamie Schlegel. Kevin Christi, Garrett Haar, Justin Pederson and Robert Oliver also scored. Christi led the team in assists with five.

The Red Wings earned a pair of playoff victories to keep their Wales Division postseason title hopes alive. They outscored the Thrashers, 3-1, in the final period to pull out a 6-5 win at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington Beach. Earlier at the rink, they held off a late charge by the Senators to post a 6-4 triumph. Red Wings 6, Thrashers 5 Brandon White scored all three of the Thrashers? goals in the third period as they rallied past the Thrashers.

A tight Wales Division matchup between the Sabers and Thrashers needed a shootout to determine the winner, and the Sabers scored twice in the extra session to pull out a 9-8 victory at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington Beach. Goals by Matthew Bennett and Kyle Christi in the shootout off-set a goal by the Thrasher’s Jake Rennison and allowed the Sabers to emerge with the win. Bennett had scored four consecutive goals and finished with a match-best five, overall.

In a tight battle that was decided in the final minute of play, the Thrashers defeated the Sabers, 7-6, in Wales Division play at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington Beach. A quick secession of goals in the third period allowed the Thrashers to gain some breathing room. First, Kyler Scott opened the period with a goal, and in a 31-second span with less than 11 minutes to play, Chase Pearce and Slater Moore both scored, with Moore?s goal giving the Thrashers a 7-3 lead with 10:17 to play.

The Maple Leafs came up with a four-goal second period to take the lead for good in an eventual, 5-3 victory over the Kings in an Adams Division match at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington Beach. Will Miller opened and closed the scoring for the Maple Leafs and finished with three goals overall. Luke Benavente and Wayne Ponce also scored and Maverick Knight had 20 saves. Vito Valenzano scored all three goals for the Kings, Wil McDaniel had an assist and Joseph Loya 20 saves.

The Senators saw a seemingly safe three-goal lead all but disappear during their Wednesday Wales Division matchup against the Sabers but held on for a 6-5 victory at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington Beach. The Senators took a 6-3 lead into the final period, using four goals by Zac Witt and one apiece by Ryan Dixon and Samantha Woodside, to build that three-goal lead. Goals by Matthew Bozanich and Logan Favilla, each assisted by Lucas Main, brought the Sabers to within 6-5 with 5:36 to play but they could get no closer.

The Strom closed strong in their showdown against Philadelphia in the championship match of the Patrick Division postseason playoffs, and used that finish to post a 6-2 title-clinching victory at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington Beach. The Storm led, 2-1, after the first period but pulled away from there and sealed the win by outscoring Philadelphia, 2-0, in the final period. Dylan Miller led the Storm offense with three goals and two assists. Aaron Baca-Chavez and Eric Schilb each had a goal and assist and Tov Johnson scored once.
