The Huntington Beach Jr. Pee Wee Green Chargers plowed their way through yet another opponent Saturday when they clipped the Santa Ana Gray Monarchs, 30-0, at Edison High. It was the third victory in as many games for Huntington, which has won all three by shutout. The rout began early and the scoring got underway quickly when Trevor Borkowski scored on a touchdown run on the second play of the game. On the ensuing kickoff, Roman Smith recovered a loose ball at the Santa Ana 35-yard line.

The Huntington Beach Chargers complemented a potent offensive game with tenacious defense and a nearly error-free performance to score a 38-6 victory over the Stanton Raiders in Pop Warner Football Midget Division action. Stephan Andrew threw two touchdown passes to Jake Machado and one to Jeff Trojan, Kaelin Daly rushed for another score, and Alek Kirshner -- who had a second-half fumble recovery -- scored the final Chargers' touchdown. The Huntington defense also came up with a safety in the first half.

After surviving four-straight one-run victories ? three of which came in postseason play, the Ocean View High softball team enjoyed a breather Tuesday. And of all things, it came in the semifinal round of the CIF-Southern Section Division IV playoffs. Ocean View used a big third inning to gain control of a showdown with host Pomona Catholic and rode that outburst to an eventual 6-1 victory that put the No. 4-seeded Seahawks in the division final against Del Rey League champ Bishop Amat of La Puente.

Behind an offense that sprang to life with a potent passing attack and solid rushing game, the Huntington Beach Gold Chargers entered the win column for the first time in the 2007 Pop Warner Football season Saturday with a 19-0 triumph over the Fullerton Gold Titans. The Pee Wee Division contest was played at Edison High. Huntington quarterback Colin Kearon turned in an 11-for-16 passing performance that included 169 yards and two touchdowns. In the first quarter, he and Chad Davis teamed on a 25-yard scoring play.
