Paniz scores twice in 3-1 victory.The Bruins scored the final three goals of their Adams Division match against the Mighty Ducks and went on to post a 3-1 victory at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington Beach. The Mighty Ducks took a 1-0 lead after one period on a goal by Casey Rhodes, but from that point forward, the Bruins' defense and goalies Austin Heinz and Austin Heilman didn't allow another goal. The Bruins tied the score on a second-period goal by Matthew Paniz, then took the lead in the third period on a goal by Anthony Martinez.

The Rink Raiders jumped out to a three-goal lead in the first period and never trailed in posting a 6-3 Campbell Division victory over the Mighty Ducks in play at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington Beach. Scott Webb's three goals led a Rink Raiders attack that included unassisted goals by Cody Sizemore, Landon Milhone and Andrew Haley. Madison Clark got the win on 12 saves. Christopher Kao scored three goals and had an assist to lead the Mighty Ducks.

David Wellander posted three goals and Tori Gianformaggio recorded 17 saves to lead the Dragons to a 4-0 Campbell Division victory over the Hot Shots at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington Beach. Patrick Baikie also scored and Alexander Gomez and Adam Khouri each had an assist. In other Campbell Division games: Bruins 8, Mad Dogs 2 Philip Pacarelli poured in four goals to pace the Bruins. Aron Wong netted three goals, Kellen O'Connell had a goal and assist and Cameron Platzman assisted on three goals.

Robert Becker scored two goals and the Wings went on the defensive in recording a 5-0 victory over the Blackhawks in an Adams Division match at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington Beach. Becker scored consecutive goals to take the Wings from a 1-0 lead into a 3-0 advantage in the second period. Mark Ellis, Dylan Palmer and William Brines each scored once, and Palmer had an assist. Trent Morsk got the shutout on 12 saves. Jonathan Cooper had 27 saves for the Blackhawks.

The Red Rhinos scored all three of their goals in the second period and then rode a strong defensive effort to shut down the Wings 3-0 in Campbell Division play at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington Beach Aron Wong, Trent Morsk and Niley Smith each scored and Jonathan Cooper had an assist. Tori Gianformaggio recorded the shutout on 15 saves. Jake Grothjan had 25 saves for the Wings. In other Campbell Division games: Mighty Ducks 6, Hot Shots 2 Alex Kao posted four goals to lead the Mighty Ducks in scoring.

The Rockets got off to a quick start and their defense took over from there, as they posted a 5-0 shutout victory over the Rink Rats in Adams Division play at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington Beach. A 3-0 first quarter got the Rockets rolling, as Maxwell Votaw, Andrew Haley and Luke Winstead all scored and Brandon Wade picked up an assist. Winstead and Jimmy Duff each scored over the final two quarters, each goal assisted by Votaw.

The Wings came up with a strong defensive effort and had more than enough offense to record a 3-0 victory over the Hurricanes in an Adams Division match at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington Beach. Trent Morsk needed just nine saves to get the shutout. Leading the Wings' offense was Robert Becker, who scored twice. Brett Bennett scored once, and William Brines had an assist. Tatum Coats posted 13 saves for the Hurricanes. In other Adams Division action: Mighty Ducks 2, Sharks 0 With its defense putting up a fight, the Mighty Ducks were able to take away the bite of the Sharks.

The Blasters began play in the Adams Division on a winning note as they defeated the Wings, 5-3, at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington Beach. Matthew Bodge scored three goals to lead all scorers. Teammate Parker Andrews scored twice and Alexander Taros had an assist. Trevor Dilauro recorded 15 saves. Seth Herft scored twice and McKenna Shaver had one goal for the Wings. In other games: Slickshoes 4, Blackhawks 2 Adriana Concepcion scored twice to lead the Slickshoes.

Kang nets three goals in a 4-2 Adams Division victory.Grayson Kang scored three goals, and the Hornets scored a victory in Adams Division play by defeating the Eagles, 4-2, at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington Beach. Kang scored the first and last two goals for the Hornets, who got a single goal from Ashton McKeown, assists from Grant Kang and Brent Lindstrom and 17 saves from Nick Hoskins. Blake Walker scored both goals for the Eagles, the first off an assist from Brianna Case.

Michael Schulman dons a title most tax attorneys could never dream of: CEO of a National Hockey League franchise. After Henry and Susan Samueli of Broadcom Corp. purchased the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim from Disney Corp. in June, Schulman, the family's tax attorney and overall right-hand man, found himself placed at the helm of the enigmatic hockey franchise. "Am I qualified?" he asked himself with a grin. "Probably not." Of course, Schulman is not in charge of the hockey decisions.

As thousands of rubber ducks splash into the water off the Huntington Beach Pier this weekend, the staff of nonprofit clinics for the uninsured will see a different sort of wave. The annual Duck-A-Thon, which will have its 15th run this weekend, raises about $200,000 per year for the Community Care Health Centers of Orange County, which began as the Huntington Beach Community Clinic and became the county's largest network of clinics for the uninsured. That's a major figure for an organization that raises $2 to $3 million each year.

Evan Gray, David Wellander and Austin Koss each posted two goals, and Austin Salisbury scored once. Gray and Tyler Gealy each had an assist. Mark Clifford scored an unassisted goal and Ethan Higbee had 28 saves for the Bruins.
