Four Huntington Beach athletes, each a member of the Seal Beach Swim Club boys 11-12 400-yard free relay team, swam their way Sunday to a National Reportable Time (NRT) in Mission Viejo. Competing on a cold day at dusk against just one opponent- the official clock - the four, Lugar Choi, Tristan Friend, Scott Schauer, and Derrick Willits, combined for a time of 3:51.80. The Seal Beach team swam nearly three seconds faster than the NRT minimum, which is 3:54.

The Surf City Breakers, a 10-and-Under A All-Star team out of South Huntington Beach Girls Fastpitch Softball, reached the title game of the Rancho Roundup in Rancho Trabuco Sunday, and ended the tournament with a runner-up finish. In pool play Saturday, the Breakers scored a pair of one-run victories, defeating the Mission Viejo A All-Stars, 2-1, before shutting out the host Rancho Trabuco A All Stars, 1-0. The two wins gave the Breakers the No. 1 seed in bracket play. On Sunday, Huntington met Mission Viejo for a second time in the tournament and again emerged victorious, this time by a 3-0 score.

The Huntington Beach boys 8th-grade All-Net basketball team remained unbeaten on the season by winning two games last weekend. The first victim was Trabuco Hills, which fell, 56-40, as Chris Potrykus scored 10 points, Matt Molino scored nine, and Kevin Brake hit a pair of three point shots to finish with eight points. In a 34-26 win over Aliso Niguel, Courtney Coleman poured in 15 points and Patrick Killeen added nine more to lead the way. In other games: FOUNTAIN VALLEY NJB 7TH-GRADE ALL-NET DIVISION Fountain Valley 33, Mission Viejo 18 Samer Haddad led all scorers with 11 points and Mike Doran and Nathan Morris each chipped in six points as Fountain Valley (1-1)

The Ocean View High American Legion baseball team lost its first two games in district tournament play and was eliminated from title contention at Glover Stadium in Anaheim. Ocean View, Mission Viejo, Dana Hills and Whittier high school-aged teams competed in the district tournament, which was a double-elimination event. The Seahawks entered the tournament with a 14-1 record. Ocean View led Mission Viejo throughout the majority of the tournament opener July 24, but Mission Viejo scored twice in the top of the seventh to win, 6-2. Ocean View was in scoring position with one out in the bottom of the seventh after juniors Matt Larsen and Aaron Delgado singled.
