To begin with, I've always thought the few people who complained about the game, and the city officials who generously acquiesced to these individual's unfounded...

Five of the top 10-ranked teams, including the top four seeds, are still in the running for the CIF Southern Section Division 1 boys' soccer championship. Edison High is one of those remaining teams, and it's a golden feeling for the Chargers. The division's No. 2 seed needed two late scores, including a goal two minutes into a overtime by Jack Slavik, to pull out a 2-1 victory Tuesday at Long Beach Cabrillo. Slavik's golden goal, preceded by a goal by teammate Connor Gordon late in the second half, allowed the Chargers to slip past the upset-minded Jaguars, and into Thursday's quarterfinal round.
