The Misfits turned the tide on a close match with Swat in the second period and went on to score a 5-3 Norris Division victory at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington Beach. Alexander Gomez led the scoring with three goals to pace the Misfits who outscored Swat, 3-1, in the second period. Nick Callanan and Daniel Chladek also scored goals. Gomez, Chladek, Callanan, Jeremy Williams and Colin Reyes all had an assist. Ismael Ralsten recorded 22 saves. Braeden Stack scored two goals to lead Swat, Trenton Shehan scored once and Shehan and Joshua Wagoner each had an assist.

Swat rolled from start to finish in its Norris Division match with the Falcons Wednesday and scored a 5-0 victory at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington Beach. Kyle Kowalski led all scorers with three goals. Peter Skowron and Joe Gibb each scored once, Gibb also had a save and the Swat defense recorded the shutout via 20 saves by Savannah Patton. Thomas Wirth had 32 saves for the Falcons. In other Norris Division action Breakers 6, Lightning 1 The Breakers scored the final four goals of the match to pull away from the Lightning.

The Slashers took a two-goal lead on the Falcons after one period of play in their Norris Division match Wednesday and that margin proved to be the difference in a 6-4 victory at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington Beach. Four Slashers scored goals, led by two goals each from Alexander Gomez and Tanner Osterkamp. Single goals were scored by Markus Boyer and Kaden Bruner. Gomez, Bruner, Ryan Osterkamp and Derrek Chang all has assists. Tanner Chang recorded 22 saves.

The Kings spotted the Flyers a 1-0 lead then went on to score the final four goals of the Norris Division match and went on to record a 4-1 victory at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington Beach. Nicholas Thompson scored off an assist from Brent Rudy in the opening period to lift the Flyers to 1-0 lead. From there, though, the Kings defense and goalie Tyler Gealy wouldn't allow another goal. The Kings drew even in the second period when Tyler McLuckey scored off an assist from Jake Shaylor.

The Ducks picked up a win in Adams Division play by defeating the Maple Leafs, 4-3, at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington Beach. Justin Kao?s first-period goal gave the Ducks a 1-0 lead. Christina Kao scored the final three goals for the Ducks. Geoffrey Campbell had 16 saves. Brandon Washiashi, Tristan Shults and Alexander Hessing scored for the Maple Leafs. Natalie Trujillo recorded 19 saves. In other Adams Division action: Pirates 3, Sharks 3 The Pirates took a 3-1 lead, but the Sharks scored two to tie. Andrew McConnell scored twice, Jagger Kenady had a goal and assist, and Jacob Fisk was in on three assists for the Pirates.

Sure Fit scored the first seven goals of their Smythe Division match with the Predators and went on to claim a 7-1 victory at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington Beach. Nicholas Thompson and Alex Kao led the scoring with three goals apiece and Tommy Spencer scored once. Assists went to Thompson, Spencer, Austin Bullo and Griffin Orr. Jacob Lawson recorded 19 saves. Jake Shaylor scored an unassisted goal for the Predators and Jesse Mellema had 23 saves.

A man wanted on two warrants was arrested this morning after a four-hour standoff with a Huntington Beach police SWAT team, police said. Gene Anthony Franklin, 32, who was arrested at about 5 a.m., was being held on a warrant for suspicion of forgery issued by Glendora police and a warrant for suspicion of resisting arrest issued by Baldwin Park police, said Huntington Beach police Lt. Terry Lindsey. Detectives dropped by the 15000 block of Cambay Lane at 9:30 p.m. Thursday to look for Franklin, Lindsey said.

A pair of goals by Daniel Burkhardt in the final 3:40 broke a tie and helped send the Rattlers past the Storm, 7-6, in the championship final of the Howe Division postseason tournament. Burkhardt?s goals came off assists from Tyler Wilford and Kristian Burkhardt in championship weekend play at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington Beach. Daniel Burkhardt finished with three goals and an assist overall. Christopher Kao scored twice and Wilford and Chris Irwin each scored once.

The Huntington Beach Police Department is conducting an internal investigation into last week's accidental shooting of a SWAT officer by another member of the department, authorities said. The 20-year veteran officer, who was shot in the leg when another officer's gun was accidentally discharged, underwent an emergency surgery at the UC Irvine Medical Center in Orange and is expected to make a full recovery, Capt. Russ Reinhart said last week. Doctors have recovered the bullet from his leg. The accident happened at about 10 p.m. July 18 while the SWAT team officers were cleaning their firearms at the station after a day of training, Reinhart said.

A Huntington Beach SWAT officer was recovering Thursday morning after he was accidentally shot in the leg with another officer's gun at police headquarters the night before, authorities said. The officer underwent emergency surgery after he was shot in the leg with a ricochet bullet about 10 p.m. Wednesday, said Capt. Russell Reinhart of the Huntington Beach Police Department. The men, who gathered at the station for a briefing after an all-day training session, were cleaning their weapons when one of the guns accidentally went off. Paramedics transported the injured officer - whose name, age and rank have not been released - to UC Irvine Medical Center, where he was "recuperating with his family and friends at his side," Reinhart said.

Consensus in the City Council chambers last week was strong: The doomed skate park next to Huntington Beach High School should be replaced by a much bigger facility in the Central Park Sports Complex, funded by a big sponsor like Volcom. “I support the creation of a bigger park, seeing as it will draw more kids and give them all a place to skate,” Councilwoman Madeline McKinley said before a 7-0 vote to have city staff move forward on the issue. Brandon Foster scored consecutive goals to get the Panthers off and skating in their Smythe Division encounter with the Young Americans at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington Beach, and that early start propelled them to a 5-2 victory. Following Foster?s two goals, Andrew Armstrong scored with 8:42 left in the opening period to build the lead to 3-0. The Young Americans got on the scoreboard with 1:35 left in the period behind a goal by Ryan Sprague to narrow the deficit to 3-1. Stuart Urbano and Hayden Rahman also scored for the Panthers.
